The Goring and Streatley Young Musicians Trust was established in February 2024 to support music-making opportunities for young people in our communities.
The advantages of developing musical skills at all ages have been well-documented however children's musical education is at risk from the cost of living crisis, escalating costs and uncertainty around government funding. Our charitable aims and activities are therefore to:
enable children to learn a musical instrument at primary school for free
provide bursaries for follow-on tuition and access to instruments
encourage and increase participation in our local community music scene
Through the generosity of our donor community, fundraising activities and grants giving organisations we have so far raised enough money to fund the activities as detailed on our What we do webpages for the first year. We are now looking to secure funding for the second year and beyond so as to build sustainability into our model. Our ultimate goal is for every child at school in Goring and Streatley to take their first musical steps for free and to support follow-on activities for all those who wish to continue. If you would like to help in any way, please follow the links below - and thank you.
